โšฝMatchX Game

Overview

MatchX is a Prediction Mini Game where the operator can create a Game (e.g โ€œSeasonโ€) with different Rounds, where each round will contain a set of matches (unlimited) the players will have to predict the correct score for.

MatchX is designed to support up to 200,000 participants per round. To ensure optimal performance, make sure to stay within these limits by applying appropriate segmentation.

Please also note that exporting users from the BO currently supports up to 5,000 users per batch.

  1. Lobby - We've introduced a โ€˜Match Xโ€™ lobby, offering players the option to select from a variety of games. Once users enter a specific game, they can effortlessly return to the lobby by clicking the โ€˜Backโ€™ button.

The matches can be comprised of different sports, different leagues, and different days.

  1. Rounds - Every round has a prize pool, similar to Smartico Tournaments module, which can be Gamification Points, Bonuses, Spin on a Mini Game, or tangible items. At the end of each round, when the matches are settled and the round is resolved, the players receive the prizes based on their prediction and have clear visibility of the leaderboard.

  1. Leaderboard - The Leaderboards tab provides real-time score updates. The list of ranked players is displayed, and players can click on any participant to access their predictions for the current round (if enabled)

  1. Rules tab - In this section, operators have the option to input their Terms & Conditions, Rules, and any additional information they wish to communicate to players. This content should be populated from the BO within the game template.

The Match X game can be configured from the BO -> Gamification tab -> Match X section. To create a new one you just need to click on the 'Create button.

Please follow the guidelines in the Mini Games guide, which cover all of the game configurations, such as attempt costs, usage limitations, segmentation, etc.

  1. Progressive Jackpot in Match X - The Jackpot in Match X is awarded to players who achieve a perfect score, meaning they correctly predict the outcome of every match in the round. If more than one player achieves a perfect score, the jackpot prize is divided equally among all qualifying players. The distribution is automatic and does not depend on:

    • who submitted their predictions first,

    • the player's position on the leaderboard,

    • or whether the "Remove Tie Rankings" setting is enabled.

In other words, every player with a perfect score receives an equal share of the jackpot.

The jackpot contribution is applied once per player per round. Even if a player makes multiple predictions within the same round, it is still considered a single attempt, so the contribution is added only once for that player for the entire round.

'Prize Pool' section

The prize list is populated automatically in the Prize Pool section in the following way:

To create the Prize Pool, go to the Prizes tab and click the 'Add' button.

Adding a banner to MatchX

You can add a banner to your MatchX instance by either uploading an image from your local machine (will be uploaded on CDN automatically) or by inserting a URL.

The image size should be 900x200, or with the same proportions, and will be automatically responsive for all devices.

Match X - Seasonal Ranking for games

You have the ability to enable Seasonal Ranking for Match X. When it is enabled the final leaderboard will be built based on the results of matches in all the rounds. The prizes will be issued when the season is resolved. For example, if only one round is resolved, and there are other rounds, that are not resolved, the prizes will not be issued.

It can be configured from the 'Enable seasonal ranking' drop-down on the game level (General), not on the rounds level.

Example of 'Enable seasonal ranking' on game level

Once it is enabled a new tab called 'Leaderboard (for season)' appears on the game template. This tab gives you information about the winners for the whole season, including all rounds.

Example of 'Leaderboard (for Season)' tab in BO

Players can switch between the different leaderboards on the Gamification Widget as well. For example, you can create a Seasonal Ranking for the Champions League, starting with the preliminary round, then the qualifying rounds and play-off round. The rounds will be visible on the leaderboard, but the prizes will be issued to players when all rounds are resolved.

Hide ranking in Leaderboard

โ€˜Hide ranking in Leaderboardโ€™ gives you the option to hide the ranking of the players in the Leaderboards on a โ€˜Match Xโ€™ game. For example, if you have multiple players in the same position, and you donโ€™t want it to be visible to the end user, you can now hide the ranking. It is applicable to both mobile and desktop.

Mark Matches as Canceled

Games can be marked as canceled in Match X rounds. The option can be found in the Rounds tab -> inside the Round -> Events section. There is a 'Mark Match as Canceled' button inside the Match Details pop-up. Once a match is designated as canceled it cannot be reactivated. On the UI the game will be displayed as inactive and the players will not be able to set their predictions.

Show 'Match X' round before the start

You can set a round which is in the future and if you do not have any active rounds we will display the upcoming one. For cases where there is an active round and an upcoming one, only the active round will be displayed. However, if all rounds are resolved and there is only one upcoming, the upcoming round will be displayed.

Keep in mind that upcoming rounds will not be displayed in the Leaders and Rounds tabs. If there is only 1 round and it is Upcoming the Leaders and Rounds tabs will be hidden.

Example of Upcoming Round

In upcoming rounds, the players will be able to view the matches, but will not be able to set predictions. There will be a message under the round name notifying the players when the round will start.

Remove tie ranking on Match X Leaderboard

You can now remove tie rankings on the Match X leaderboard. The setting, โ€˜Remove Tie Rankings,โ€™ is available in the BO under the Match X template and is disabled by default.

When enabled, if two or more players have the same score, the player who made their prediction first will be ranked higher, ensuring that each position is held by a single player (e.g., only one player in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). In such case, the prize for 1st place for example will be issued only to 1 player.

If the option is disabled, players with the same score will share the same position on the leaderboard. For example, you could have three players tied for 1st place and two for 2nd place. In such case, the prize for 1st place for instance can be issued to two or more players depending on how many players have the same score.

Set auto resolve for custom match

You can automatically resolve a custom match with the โ€˜Set auto resolve for the matchโ€™ option. This option is available only for custom matchesand is disabled by default, meaning they must be resolved manually from the Back Office. When enabled, you can define a specific UTC date and time, and the question will be resolved automatically once that time is reached.

Note: After a match is auto-resolved, the answers can no longer be edited.

Spin expiration for Match X

The โ€˜Spin Expiration Ruleโ€™ option in Match X helps you to configure spin attempt costs and define when unused attempts expire using flexible rules:

  • Relative period - e.g., expires 10 days after the attempt is issued

  • Specific time - e.g., expires at 00:00 UTC on the same day it was issued

  • Day of the week - e.g., expires on Monday at 00:00 UTC, regardless of when it was issued

  • Specific date & time - e.g., expires on 21.05.2026 at 00:00 UTC, regardless of issuance time

If a spin attempt is not used before the set time is reached, it will automatically expire and can no longer be used.

Note: When the cost type is 'Spin Attempts', the cost is applied once per round, regardless of how many predictions are made within that round. All predictions in the same round count as a single attempt.

You can also define Max Active Spins per User, which limits how many spin attempts a user can have at a time. For example, if set to 1, the user can participate in only one round of Match X. Once the spin is used, they must receive a new attempt before joining another round.

Boxing and MMA

The Match X UI for Boxing and MMA differs from other sports because players predict the winner of the fight, rather than the exact score or score difference.

When a Boxing or MMA match is configured, users will see:

  • a 'Win' button under each fighter

  • a 'Draw' button displayed between them

GF Widget: Boxing Match UI

In the BO, the main difference compared to other sports is the match resolution process (both manual and automatic). For Boxing and MMA matches, the available result options are:

  • Home Win

  • Draw

  • Away Win

To resolve a match, simply select the correct outcome and click Save.

Note: For Boxing and MMA:

  • The Round score type setting (Exact Score or Difference in goals) does not affect the UI behavior. Players will always predict the winner of the fight. If the round also contains other sports, those sports will still follow the configured score type.

  • Since players only predict the winner in Boxing and MMA, there are no partial wins - results are either full win or lose.

AI-Generated team jerseys for Match X

You can generate AI-powered team jerseys for soccer matches in Match X. This feature allows you to create a custom team shirt for a specific soccer team and regenerate the image if needed.

This option is available only for:

  • Soccer matches

  • Manually created matches

The setting can be found in the Match Details section.

Note: You must ensure that any uploaded or AI-generated team jerseys, logos, names, or branded assets comply with applicable copyright, trademark, and licensing regulations.

Auto resolve rounds and season for Match X

The Auto Resolve Date option in Match X a, allows you to automatically resolve a round or an entire season at a specified time. The setting, โ€œAuto Resolve Date (UTC)โ€, is available in the Round Settings and, when Seasonal Ranking is enabled, at the Template level for the entire season. Once the configured date and time are reached, the round or season will be automatically resolved and prizes will be awarded. By default, the setting is left empty, meaning rounds and seasons must be resolved manually.

Note: Auto Resolve for a round will only be triggered once all matches in that round have been resolved. Similarly, Auto Resolve for a season will only occur once all rounds in the season have been resolved.
