# Activity: Stop campaign, Stop campaigns and Another Campaign

Three activities control the campaigns a player is in:

* **Stop campaign** ends this campaign for the player.
* **Stop campaigns** ends the campaigns you choose for the player, or all the player's campaigns (including this one) when you choose none.
* **Another Campaign** starts a different campaign for the player.

Use them to move a player from one campaign to another, to end a campaign early when its goal is reached, or to make sure a player is not in two campaigns that compete with each other. All three are in the **Flow control** group of the flow builder, in Journeys and in Scheduled Campaigns.

## Stop campaign

### Settings

| Field         | What it does                                                           |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Note** | Optional text for your team. The activity shows it on the canvas. |
| **Funnel ID** | Optional name of a funnel step for the **Funnel markers** table in BI. |

### How it works

When a player reaches **Stop campaign**, the campaign ends for this player at once. All the player's open steps in this campaign end too, on every branch: for example a **Delay** or a **Wait for event** on another branch will not continue.

If **Stop campaign** sits next to other steps on the same branch, those steps run first, and then the campaign stops. The exception is **Convert campaign**: do not attach it to the same branch as **Stop campaign**, because only one of the two may run. Use a conversion rule and a stop rule instead.

### Stop rules

You can also stop the campaign on an event, without a step in the flow. Open the campaign, go to the **Stop/Convert rules** tab and click **Create Stop Rule**. Set **Event to wait** (required) and, if needed, conditions on the event data. For paired events, such as a bet and its settlement, **Match paired event** is also shown. A stop rule works for the whole time the player is in the campaign. It also stops players who are in the control group of the campaign; they leave the control group.

Good to know:

* If the stop rule uses the same event as the campaign's entry event, the event that starts the campaign does not stop it. Only a later event does.
* When a stop rule and a conversion rule happen on the same event, the player is converted first and then stopped. Read more in [Activity: Funnel marker and Convert campaign](https://help.smartico.ai/welcome/products/crm-automation/activities-of-flows/activity-funnel-marker-and-convert-campaign).

## Stop campaigns

### Settings

| Field                                                               | What it does                                                                                                                                                                                         |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Campaigns to stop (leave empty to stop all available campaigns)** | The campaigns to end for the player. You can choose several. The list shows campaigns in the **Active** and **Executed** status, as "name (ID: …)". Click a chosen campaign to open it in a new tab. |
| **Note** | Optional text for your team. |
| **Funnel ID** | Optional name of a funnel step for the **Funnel markers** table in BI. |

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://77049817-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfS5hl0PiysHtKAKMsQTe%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ebd25614602c2bb8822f18040c45dec33c2e2167%2Ffd61e08bf9-stop-campaigns-fe454a2c-e219d6.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption><p>Stop campaigns: 1 — the campaigns to stop (leave it empty to stop all of them)</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### How it works

* With campaigns chosen, Smartico ends every open entry of the player in those campaigns.
* With the list empty, Smartico ends **every** campaign the player is in on your label, **including the campaign that runs this step**. Steps after **Then** may then not run. To stop only other campaigns, choose them in the list.
* A stopped entry ends the same way as with **Stop campaign**: all its open steps end, and a player in the control group leaves it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
On the canvas, **Stop campaigns** always shows "Stop all available campaigns", even when you chose campaigns. Open the activity to see which campaigns it stops.
{% endhint %}

## Another Campaign

### Settings

| Field                 | What it does                                                                                                                     |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Campaign to start** | The campaign to start for the player. Required. Type to search by name or ID. Each campaign in the list shows its ID and status. |
| **Note** | Optional text for your team. |
| **Funnel ID** | Optional name of a funnel step for the **Funnel markers** table in BI. |

On the canvas the activity shows the ID and the name of the campaign it starts.

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://77049817-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfS5hl0PiysHtKAKMsQTe%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3c534d6e16c3e41acc0f26c8b58b98c15a26740e%2Fb26a751cf6-another-campaign-355fb4f1-5f13ba.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption><p>Another Campaign: 1 — Campaign to start; 2 — the ID and the status of each campaign in the list</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### How it works

* **Another Campaign** does not stop the current campaign. The player is in both campaigns. To leave the current one, add **Stop campaign** after **Then**.
* The other campaign starts only when its status is **Active**. If it is Draft, Paused, Disabled, Archived or Executed, nothing happens. The list in the field shows campaigns in every status, so check the status before you choose.
* When the player enters, the other campaign does **not** check its own entry rules: its segment, its entry conditions, its active hours and days, and its start, end and stop dates are skipped.
* These settings of the other campaign still apply:
  * the **Entry mode** — for example, a player who already had a campaign set to once in a lifetime does not enter it again;
  * the limit of entries per player, when it is set;
  * the control group — the player can land in the control group of the other campaign.

## Outgoing connections

The picture shows Stop campaigns, then Another Campaign, then Stop campaign:

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://77049817-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfS5hl0PiysHtKAKMsQTe%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2e3484e2948afadc98ec18efda6b42eeb93ec3ef%2F50c2b44e10-campaign-control-872e830d-e92b34.png?alt=media" alt="Outgoing connections"><figcaption><p>Outgoing connections of Stop campaigns, Another Campaign and Stop campaign in a flow. The numbers match the table below.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

| # | Connection                        | When the player goes this way                                                                                                                  |
| - | --------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 1 | **Then (after Stop campaigns)** | Right away, before the campaigns are stopped. With an empty list the current campaign is stopped too, so the steps after **Then** may not run. |
| 2 | **Then (after Another Campaign)** | Right away, before the other campaign is started. The player goes on to the next step of this campaign. |
| — | **Stop campaign** | No outgoing connection: it ends this campaign for the player, so it is the last step of its path. |

## Where else these activities work

| Activity             | Automation rules           | Missions and badges                                                                  | Tournaments |
| -------------------- | -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ----------- |
| **Stop campaign**    | —                          | —                                                                                    | —           |
| **Stop campaigns**   | Yes, as **Stop Campaigns** | —                                                                                    | —           |
| **Another Campaign** | Yes, as **Start campaign** | Yes, as **Start campaign**, on the **Rewards** tab and as a **Task Reward Activity** | — |

Outside the flow, the form shows only the campaign field: **Note** and **Funnel ID** are flow-only. In an automation rule, **Stop Campaigns** with an empty list ends every campaign the player is in. Read more in [Automation Rules](/welcome/products/crm-automation/automation-rules.md), [Missions](/welcome/products/gamification-basics/missions.md) and [Badges](/welcome/products/gamification-basics/badges.md).

## Example

A player is in a "Welcome" journey. When the player makes a first deposit, you want to move them to a "First deposit" journey and stop the welcome messages.

1. In the "Welcome" journey, add **Wait for event** for the deposit.
2. On its branch for the event, add **Another Campaign** with **Campaign to start** = "First deposit".
3. After **Then**, add **Stop campaign**.

The player starts "First deposit" even if they are not in its segment, and "Welcome" ends for them.

## FAQ

**Does Another Campaign respect the segment of the campaign it starts?**

No. It skips the segment, the entry conditions and the active hours of the other campaign. It still respects the other campaign's entry mode and its control group, and the other campaign must be **Active**.

**I left "Campaigns to stop" empty. Why did my campaign stop too?**

An empty list stops every campaign the player is in, including the current one. Choose the campaigns you want to stop.

**What is the difference between Stop campaign and a stop rule?**

**Stop campaign** is a step: it works when a player reaches it in the flow. A stop rule in the **Stop/Convert rules** tab works at any moment of the campaign, when the event happens.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.smartico.ai/welcome/products/crm-automation/activities-of-flows/activity-stop-campaign-stop-campaigns-and-another-campaign.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
